About TrueNorth Counseling
TrueNorth Counseling LLC, led by Justyna Wolek LCSW, is dedicated to providing accessible, low-barrier mental health therapy to youth and young adults in Portland, Oregon. With deep compassion for justice-involved youth and those impacted by foster and adoption systems, I believe that quality mental health care should be available to everyone. I offer virtual therapy sessions with flexible, reduced rates to ensure that financial barriers never prevent someone from getting the support they need.
My approach is rooted in trauma-informed, neuro-affirming and psychodynamic practice, meaning I look for the root of what's been causing you impact. I meet each client where they are at, utilizing evidence-based modalities including Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (TF-CBT), play therapy, therapeutic art, and life story work. I understand the profound impact that systems like the juvenile justice system have on young people, and I'm committed to providing compassionate, culturally-sensitive care that honors each individual's unique experiences and needs. I also provide supervision to Master's level Social Work students. I'm here to help support you the best I can!

Trauma-Focused Creative Therapy
Evidence-based Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (TF-CBT) combined with trauma-informed care to help youth process difficult experiences and gain more understanding. Therapeutic art and play therapy sessions designed to help young people express themselves, process emotions, and develop coping skills in a safe, non-judgmental space. Caregiver Consultation
I provide 45-60 minute caregiver consultations for those in caregiving positions that are looking for a trauma-informed way to support the youth they are looking after. This could include addressing new behaviors, supporting youth through self-harm and/or suicidal ideation, and how to build safer attachments. Average caregiver consultation rate in Portland, OR: $170-$200 TrueNorth Counseling's rate: $90-$150
System Involvement Reduced Rates
If I haven't mentioned it yet, I am deeply motivated to this work based off working with youth who have been impacted by the justice system and/or the adoption/foster system. I recognize many of the youth and their families are often left with little to no support upon release, primarily around mental health services, which is why I offer a reduced rate for those who have system involvement.
